Freebies and Giveaways to Draw Attention to Your Site

We are all aware that you have to give to get. In niche marketing, this is a necessary tool that you can use to set you apart from the many other sites out there offering a like service or product. No matter what it is, studies have shown that people will always respond first to something that is free- even if they don’t need it or want it! That is seriously the best way to hook your clientele with an offer they can’t refuse. Plus, it really shows that you believe in your business if you are willing to offer a giveaway and stand behind what you are selling on your site.
The first idea is to hold a contest on your site. Let’s brainstorm, shall we? If you have a site selling skin care products, then your contest can cater to giving away a basket of the newest skin care products that you are selling. Number one, people are going to want the free basket, are they not? And two, regardless of being a winner or loser, the visitor to your site will then have the interest in your newest products sparked in their brain. Contests are great link bait, since the notion of a prize can result in numerous new quality links to your site. Foolproof.
Next, you can begin to offer free samples in exchange for feedback. This is a hugely interactive way to get your visitors hooked on your site by making a connection with them. If your site sells baby clothes and accessories, then you can opt to advertise a free baby clothing item to all of your frequent buyers that give you comments or testimonials on your site. The users of your site will definitely bite, as this will set you apart as a site that wants to have a relationship with the visitors and users of their products. Every single consumer out there will be partial to a business that makes an effort to reward them for their purchases, because remember- they can always go somewhere else. And they know that too.
Lastly, build a tool collection on your site, as this is something that will be very popular to link to from other sites. People love useful reference tools, so think along the lines of a BMI calculator if you are a health or fitness site, or even an interactive bridal checklist that can be used to prepare a bride for her wedding day if your site is related to the wedding industry at all. Again, your customer will appreciate being rewarded for their loyal business to you with being able to use handy tools that pertain to their interests. This is a great time to get creative in building these tools because if you can think of something completely unique, then the odds of people linking to your resource will be that much higher. Creating a tool or collection of tools for the users on your website will stick out in all the minds of your visitors and have them coming back for more.
Remember, freebies and giveaways are easy ways to make your site worth even more in the eyes of the consumer. Even if people aren’t looking to buy from you just yet, they will be drawn to what’s in it for them, and from there, you have them coming back to check out your site again and again for like offers and tools that they can use. Online business should be useful and fun, and that’s what your visitors are looking for you to provide for them!

Thanks for this article in a series of interesting articles I have been reading over the last few days. My question is, how would you make a freebie/giveaway out of a specialist product like a door closer? I could get a batch of unrelated consumer items to give away, but this seems fairly pointless.
Do you have a lot of repeat customers? It seems like the type of product people would need once. If you do have a lot of repeat customers, offer a newsletter, and occasionally send out like 10% off coupons or something.
I just recently found this site and am so glad I did; I seem to find something useful with every post.
I recently started a giveaway on my blog which sells new clothing, shoes, accessories and other items. I started a giveaway which included a free Melissa & Doug deluxe stamp kit, value $40. All they had to do was to become a follower on my blog and subscribe, thats it. When I reach 50 followers I will then pull a name out of a container and that person will win with it being shipped the following day.
This really brought in alot of traffic at first but it seems to of slowed down abit now so I just started a list of freebies from other sites which I will then update everyday.
I like the idea of giving a freebie to each customer that buys something. I will have to see what I can come up with as far as that offer goes that I can afford yet it will still want the customer want to make a purchase.
Looking forward to more great posts!
Thanks,
Peg
