If you begin niche marketing you’re going to need to understand affiliate marketing and how they fit together. Once you begin generating traffic from your niche marketing efforts you’ll need a way to make money from your traffic. What is Affiliate Marketing?

To explain affiliate marketing the best I can I should start by telling you what an affiliate in relation to a product or service. An advertiser is a company who is selling a product or service and collecting payment from the customer. If an advertiser has an affiliate program, they are able to allow affiliates to market (sell) their product or service for a commission of the sale.

Once you’ve begun to generate traffic using niche marketing you’re ready to sign up as an affiliate to promote products offered by an advertiser with an established affiliate program. You have a choice to become directly affiliated with the advertiser or to use an affiliate network such as clickbank. An affiliate network is a middle man between the advertiser and the publisher, as an affiiliate you publish the advertisers content. As an affiliate you get paid per sale or lead conversion.

How to get paid in for Affiliate Marketing earnings?

All you need to provide is your social security number or federal tax ID along with your name, addresss, phone number, website, experience and method of generating traffic. Be honest when registering for an affiliate program, if you’re new but are already generating traffic they will understand if you explain it to them. As an affiliate you can expect to be paid at least 40% commission on a product or lead conversion. If you generate over $1,000 worth of volume, you should be paid every week and if you generate you can expect to be paid net 15 or net 30. Most affiliate payments are sent via check, bank wire or ach deposit.

In order to start affiliate marketing you need to make sure you have traffic, before you worry about what products you’re going to push make sure you have an audience. The key ingredient to converting leads or sales via affiliate marketing is creating an audience that will respond to what you’re trying to sell.

Now using a keyword such as niche marketing in your website url is very important when trying to rank for that keyword. It can help tremendously if you have it in your URL and even more if you have that keyword in your domain name. A lot of people new to niche marketing choose niches where they can purchase a domain with their primary keyword in the url, so they rank easier in the search engines – especially Yahoo. So make sure you understand your options when choosing a domain name and what kind of factors will come in to play in your niche marketing efforts.

For example, I rank on page 1 of Google for the keyword niche marketing for my domain name http://nichetitans.com/. There are quite a few backlinks pointed to the domain name for that keyword and Google recognizes this properly. The basic niche marketing strategy is to choose a niche that you think you can compete in for organic traffic – essentially search engine referrals. You want the popular search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing, MSN, Ask, etc to recognize your site and rank you for the keywords you’re trying to target in your niche market. The strategy begins with how to choose your niche market then continues with creating content and building backlinks for your target keywords. These keywords should have relative content and make sure you research your target keywords so you can try to choose ones that will generate more traffic for your site.
